Choose the outline, then compare the side profile

The round Miu Miu sunglasses, black Tom Ford cat-eye style and white-and-black Gucci square frame give you three different outlines to compare. Start with the lens shape and rim thickness you want, then look at how the arms meet the front.

Frame typeWhat to compare
Thicker rectangular framesCompare the lens opening with the outer frame: a wide frame can still have a relatively small lens. Look at the width of the arms from the side and where the bridge rests.
Round and finer framesCompare lens width and height separately, then check the bridge and any nose pads. The round Miu Miu example has a different outline from the wider shield and rectangular styles.
Cat-eye and upswept framesLook at how far the upper corners extend beyond the lenses. Compare the front width and temple position with your current pair; the lifted corner alone does not tell you how large the frame is.
Rimless and shield-like stylesCheck the lens outline and its connection to the bridge and arms. Confirm whether the design uses separate lenses or a single continuous lens before asking about replacements.

Compare color from more than one angle. A clear frame can pick up the background, and a gradient lens changes from darker to lighter across its surface. For a color decision, request front and side photos in even light; a single dark warehouse photo may hide the difference between the rim and lens.

Use your current frame as a size reference

A listing may show “gift box” as its size option without providing any frame dimensions. Open the arms of a pair that fits you and look for the size marking on the inside. According to Ray-Ban’s frame-size guide, three numbers commonly identify lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres. For example, 50–20–150 describes those three measurements; it is not a size supplied for any find here.

  1. Record the three measurements separately. Copy the marking from your reference pair and ask for a readable picture of the selected frame’s marking. Confirm which number describes which dimension if the format differs.
  2. Compare overall width and lens height too. Measure straight across the outside of your frame at its widest front point, and the lens opening from its highest to lowest point. Ask for the same start and end points on the frame you want. The three temple numbers alone do not describe the whole outline.
  3. Look at the bridge contact. Compare a molded bridge with separate nose pads, including their position in a side view. Similar lens and bridge numbers do not guarantee that two different bridge shapes will sit the same way.
  4. Check the arm curve and the frame’s position. Compare where your current arms bend toward your ears. Ask for a side view of the selected pair; do not assume that any frame can be bent or adjusted to compensate for the wrong size.

These measurements help you shortlist a frame. They do not replace trying it on. If your current pair slips, presses at the temples or sits too close to your cheeks, use those specific problems when asking an optician what dimensions and bridge shape to look for.

01Compare the frame front with the inside hinges

Check it in a QC photo

Recorded QC: · kakobuy

The front view shows a white frame with dark lenses. Compare both lens outlines and the bridge, then use the inside view to locate the hinges and arm joins. The tilted close-up does not establish whether the frame sits level.

The recorded option is 5155-C with gift-box packaging. Confirm the exact frame and included pieces on your own order. These shared listing photos cannot establish UV protection, lens prescription, hinge durability or authenticity.

For your glasses: request a level front view, close-ups of both hinges and readable arm markings; confirm any lens-protection claims separately.

Decide what you need from the lenses

Lens color is a style choice; UV protection needs separate evidence. The FDA’s sunglasses guidance explains that darker lenses do not necessarily offer greater UV protection. Ask for the selected lens’s stated protection and supporting information rather than treating tint, a logo or a QC photo as a test result.

If you need prescription lenses, ask your optician whether they can fit the exact frame and lens shape before ordering. Clear lenses in a product photo do not establish a prescription or confirm that the lenses can be replaced. Keep the frame price, lens work and shipping costs separate when comparing your options.

Eyewear size, lens and QC questions

Does “gift box” mean the frame comes in one size?

No. It describes a packaging option and gives you no frame dimensions. Request the size markings, overall front width and lens height for the exact style. The measurement steps above explain how to compare them.

Will two frames with the same three numbers fit alike?

They may still sit differently. Compare the overall width, lens height, bridge shape, nose pads and arm curve as well. A thick rectangular frame and a thin round frame can share some numbers while having different contact points.

Are dark or mirrored lenses proof of UV protection?

No. Tint and reflections do not establish protection. Check the information for the selected lenses and the supporting evidence; use QC photos to inspect visible condition and the delivered option.

Can I order a clear frame and add prescription lenses later?

Confirm that plan with your optician first, using the exact frame, dimensions and lens shape. The product image does not tell you whether the supplied lenses are prescription lenses or whether replacement is practical for that frame.

How do I check a possible scratch or crooked arm in QC?

Name the side and position of the issue. Request a close-up under even light for a surface mark, or straight front and level overhead views with both arms open for alignment. Reflections and camera angle can hide or imitate a problem.

Are a case or cleaning cloth included with my frame?

Check the contents of your selected option before paying. A case, cloth or box shown in a product picture does not establish that each is included. Ask how the closed frame will be protected from pressure, then check the packed weight and dimensions for shipping.

Where can I browse QC and buy a selected pair?

Open eyewear with QC photos, then compare the photo’s option with your chosen frame. On the product page, choose “Buy on Kakobuy” and confirm the current frame, color, lens details and price there. See the buying guide for the ordering steps.
