Compare outerwear with your layers in mind
Measure over the layer you plan to use
Try on a jacket over your usual sweater and check that it closes with the room you want. Take it off, fasten the front and lay it flat without stretching it. Measure straight across the chest under the arms, from the back-neck seam to the hem, and along a sleeve from the seller’s stated start point. Compare those numbers with the seller’s chart for the exact option using the same start and end points. Your reference jacket already includes the layering room you chose; do not add that allowance a second time. A size letter or a model name alone cannot tell you the layering room. For the navy zip-neck knit versus the navy cardigan, also decide whether a short neck opening or full front opening works better under that jacket.
Compare the visible baffles, cuffs, zipper and hood across outerwear listings. The black hooded jacket with fluffy trim differs visibly from a glossy black puffer style, but neither photo establishes fill amount, warmth, water resistance or trim material. Ask the seller for those specifications and any evidence you need before paying more for a claim in a title.

How do I inspect a vest or a different color?

What should I ask to see if the hood trim or closure matters?
